SUMMARY:

Assists Activity Director with development, organization and implementation of a variety of activities for social, emotional, physical and other therapeutic needs of the residents by performing the following duties: .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts individual and group activities to meet the cognitive and physical functional levels, needs, customary routines, preferences, and interests, including cultural and religious interests of each resident.
  • Communicates with residents regarding individual needs and preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices. Maintains ongoing dialogue with residents, family members, legal representatives and significant others of residents, and communicates this information to immediate supervisor and other caregivers, as appropriate.
  • Assists Activity Director with duties of department, including, but not limited to: developing and posting and/or distribution of activity calendars, conducting facility tours, maintaining activities space in clean and orderly manner that appears “homelike” and is safe for the residents, reporting any incident or matter(s) of concern to immediate supervisor and/or manager on duty, assisting with inventory and purchase of supplies, coordinating the volunteer and residents council programs, and transporting residents to and from activity areas.
  • As directed, assists with survey processes.
  • Maintains proper documentation as directed. This includes, but is not limited to: documentation of activity assessments, history, and resident participation in activities in clinical record.
  • As directed, assists with updating and implementing activities policies and procedures to reflect the philosophy of the facility, professional standards, and legal requirements.
  • Maintains and updates current skills and knowledge through continuing education and in-service programs.
  • Carries out responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations, and with facility philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Must speak, understand and read the English language to the extent necessary to safely and properly care for residents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with positive attitude and a high level of energy and enthusiasm. Ability to organize, document, and implement detailed programs. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position requires standing, sitting, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds or more, bending, climbing, twisting upper body, walking, running, carrying, listening, talking, use of telephone, and exposure to medical equipment and persons with risk of illness.

None.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Meets state and federal requirements.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Driver’s license per facility requirements.
